Images are appearing all over the Internet. Motorola has a 10" Android slate tablet that will be coming to the Verizon network. It's too bad it's not here for prime time holiday shopping. Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Tab which has a smaller 7" screen, the Motorola tablet will have a 10" screen similar to the one found on the Apple iPad. So, if you had an iPad and a Motorola tablet in a case, they'd look fairly similar from a distance.
There are various pros and cons to a 7" screen vs. a 10" screen. I think we'll end up seeing slate tablets in so many different shapes and sizes. At some point, we'll see a 12" screen model and maybe even something bigger, but 7" and 10" screens are here to stay.
Having said that, I think I'd prefer a 7" screen device if I'm working in the hospital. If I need to carry something around all the time, I'd want it to be pocketable. 10" is simply too big. However, if you're in a setting where you can leave these devices anywhere, then a 10" screen is perfect for multitasking and accessing electronic health records (EHRs). You can also access your hospital's CPOE.
I'm hoping to see the prices fall on these slate tablets in 2011. Apple will be releasing the iPad 2 which will include cameras. A number of other companies will have Android slates. We'll also see the resurgence of slate tablet PCs running Microsoft Windows and BlackBerry and HP webOS will also be in the tablet race.
